Partner Visas

Australia offers various visa options for individuals in genuine and committed relationships with Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. These visas enable couples to be together in Australia and eventually obtain permanent residency.

Onshore Partner Visas:

Onshore Partner Visas are for individuals who are already in Australia on a valid visa and wish to apply for a partner visa while in the country. The Subclass 820/801 (Temporary and Permanent) Partner Visa is a common choice. Initially, applicants receive the Subclass 820 temporary visa. After a waiting period, they can apply

Offshore Partner Visas:

Offshore Partner Visas are for couples where one partner is overseas and the other is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The Subclass 309 (Temporary) and 100 (Permanent) Partner Visa is a typical option. Applicants first apply for the Subclass 309 visa, allowing entry to Australia. After meeting specific requirements, they can apply for the Subclass 100 visa, providing permanent residency upon approval.

Prospective Marriage Visa:

The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) is for individuals who plan to marry their Australian partner. This visa allows the visa holder to enter Australia, marry their partner within nine months, and then apply for an onshore Partner Visa. Once married and the Partner Visa application is approved, they can continue their stay in Australia and eventually gain permanent residency. Applying for Partner Visas and the Prospective Marriage Visa involves demonstrating a genuine and ongoing relationship, including proof of financial interdependence, cohabitation (if applicable), and a commitment to a shared future.
